  Sisett's Recovery Tips

1) Take Positive Action: Do not risk a setback or prolonged recovery by failure or inaction in protecting yourself.

2) Seek Help: Get help early from understanding doctors and care givers. Get help early from experienced legal cousel. Knowing your limits is a strength not a weakness.

3) Prioritize: Attack the most important problems first.

4) Take Small Steps: Just as 'Rome was not built in a day'; you may have a lot of problems, but you will only wear yourself out if you try too much, too fast.

5) Breathe: Take time for yourself and take in more oxygen. It will help you to maintain your energy.

6) Count: Bottled frusteration with dysfunction can result in haste and anger. Impulsive angry minds seldom make the right decisions.

7) KIS: Keet it simple with clear objectives.

8) Keep The Faith: Do not break faith with those who are trying to help you; whether family, friends, doctor or lawyer. Driving from the back seat will only cause another crash.

9) Ask But Listen: Ask questions but do heed the answers, especially from your doctor and lawyer. Remember a true friend does not always tell you what you want to hear.

10) Follow Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like others to treat you. It is hard to appreciate adjustors and others who do not fully understand. Always remember what goes around, comes around.

11) Take Time For Yourself: Place your recovery needs first. Program healing time into your schedule, especially if you are self-employed or a mother with children. Remember that 'Running On a Broken Ankle' is counter productive and short sighted.

12) Plan For The Worst: Always have an alternative plan B in case plan A does not work out.

13) Turn Adversity To Advantage: Look for ways to make lemonade from lemons.

14) Never Give Up Hope: Where there is a will, there is a way.
